Best Soccer Registration Software

The “best soccer registration software” is also going to need to be the “best soccer billing software” because registration without billing is like a peanut butter and jelly sandwich without the bread. It works but it’s really messy.

In the case of soccer registration software, if you do not take the “soccer billing” aspect into account, the software will “work” for completing the registration but it’s going to be EXPENSIVE software to use.

Let me explain how to lose money… stacks of money!

Most soccer registration software steals your money through a sneaky back door approach and the most insidious part is that they all use this process so it seems normal.

This “thievery” takes place when you use their “free registration software” that is anything but free!

There’s a reason this method of billing was rejected back in the early 2000’s and is no longer used by any e-commerce platforms or online merchants. Sure, there are still some e-commerce platforms like Etsy, built for tiny startups and craft businesses, but I’m talking about small businesses with $20,000 in annual sales and above – real businesses.

The Simple Money Grab

When you process payments through the “old school” soccer registration software, the registration / billing software will process the payment for you through their credit card merchant account but before they give you your money, they charge an outrageous “processing fee” which is anywhere from 2X to 5X more than you would pay if you simply used a modern soccer registration software system like SocrPro.com.

This is one of the foundational reasons why SocrPro has quickly become one of the fastest-growing soccer registration software platforms… it’s the only fully integrated soccer billing software that actually uses the modern billing practice that does not take your money for processing your payments.

It’s your money, you should keep it… but you need this as well

The best soccer registration software needs to be a full suite that does everything your club needs to operate as a business, automate the coaching, and organize everything with communication and scheduling tools.

Cost is incurred not only from excessive fees but also from excessive time lost due to separate systems that do not communicate and force you to learn and operate multiple pieces of software.

Life is a lot easier when you use an Apple computer with an iPhone and iPad versus trying to manage with an Android phone, a MacBook, and a Surface tablet. All good software but it all works differently, none of it communicates with other effectively and they all use a different logic and menu flow to get the job done.

Different is Bad!

The bottom line is that the best soccer registration software is going to save you money because it does not charge outrageous fees on every transaction (best soccer billing software) and it’s going to save you time and frustration when all your club and coaching activities share 1 platform and all operate the same way.

SocrPro.com is the only soccer registration / billing software that uses the modern billing technology that all modern e-commerce systems use and it’s the only full suite of applications that do everything your club and coaches need to be successful and profitable.

Free Soccer Analysis Software

Free soccer analysis software is the best way to start using soccer game analysis software.

Soccer video analysis software that’s free to use is going to provide you with the best opportunity to understand the software and determine if it’s going to be a good fit for the soccer analysis needs you have and the mission you’re trying to complete.

The first question you need to answer is, “do you really need soccer game analysis software” or will a free video editor like iMovie get the job done? In some cases, programs like iMove are all you need… but in reality, this is only a viable option for base-level coaches or soccer players simply wanting to cut out a few highlights from a recent game.

For soccer coaches serious about taking their players to a high level”soccer IQ”, iMovie is not going to be a viable option because it’s simply not built for soccer game analysis in the same way “purpose-built” software has been built from the ground up with the specific mission in mind.

Let’s take a look at some of the key features of purpose-built soccer game analysis software and why these features make your coaching analysis easier and more effective.

  1. Easier to use – Purpose-built software has a defined mission so only the necessary features are added and the workflow is optimized. Just as a “sport utility vehicle” will do many things well, it does not haul and tow as well as a heavy-duty pickup truck and it’s not as “sporty” as a true sports car like a Corvette.
  2. Screen draw “telestration” – To effectively communicate with video, a soccer coach needs to be able to draw right in the video. Freehand drawing, circles, lines, shaded areas, and text. The best systems will include the ability for the coach to speak and have this audio added to the video so he can easily explain complex topics.
  3. Data tags – Screen telestration is the best way to explain the “why” (#1 in importance to me) but the data tags create the statistics and reports that create the “what”. Combining the “why” and the “what” is the Holy Grail of soccer game analysis.
  4. Playback filters – When reviewing specific items with the team, you’ll want to be able to quickly filter and “jump” to any specific point in a video. For example, if your team struggled with crosses or finishing, you can easily select those 2 items and then “jump” from cross to cross and all your scoring opportunities.
  5. Video distribution – No matter what you use to create the video, at some point you’ll need to share this with your team, and then you’ll want a cloud-based system to make this video sharing “1-click simple”.

These are just a few of the reasons why dedicated soccer game analysis software is the best option for a soccer coach to use when you have game video and want to use it to increase the “soccer IQ” of your players to aid their development and win more games.

The only question left is whether to get your soccer analysis software free or to pay for your soccer analysis software?

Fortunately, with SocrPro.com, you don’t need to make a compromising decision because even with the free version, you’ll receive the full power of the #1 ranked soccer game analysis software. Join with no credit card required and use it “free forever” – it’s that simple!

Saving Time on Soccer Admin

Every soccer coach needs more time but time is the one commodity that cannot be created.

But…

I can show you how to do the next best thing so you can spend more of your time the way you choose.

There’s an easy way to save time from the drudgery part of coaching and then reallocate this time to the things you know you should be doing as well as the things you choose to do. While not creating “more time”, you’re doing the next best thing with time to achieve the same goal.

If you were to create 2 lists; 1 list of things you hate doing and another list of things you want to do, would your list look anything like mine below:

Hate List

  1. Chasing payments
  2. Tracking registration of players
  3. Dealing with repetitive questions from parents
  4. “Parents” in general
  5. Marketing and recruiting
  6. Answering emails with the same questions you just answered
  7. Coordinating tournaments and showcase travel

Love It List

  1. Coaching the team
  2. …is there really a number 2?

Now, any honest person will tell you that nothing will fix your “hate list” 100%, but if we can reduce your hate list hours by 80%, or 70% or even 50%, I think it’s easy to see how much better your soccer coaching life would become.

Heck, even a reduction of 20% is moving you in the right direction so let’s take an incremental approach to the “Hate List” and I’ll demonstrate how you can start saving time starting from tryouts and registration and then we’ll cover additional strategies in later articles.

Actually, let’s back it up a little further to before tryouts because it takes a massive effort to get players to tryouts and this is where the SocrPro customer relationship manager (CRM) steps in and automates the communication and marketing to maximize your tryout attendance.

Automating the communication through email, texting with personalized customization via smart tags and automated sales funnels. The SocrPro support team helps you through every step to make it drop dead simple and once you have it set up just the way you like it, you can use it year after year.

Selecting your teams is another perfect use for the CRM and smart tags. You’ll be able to build your roster with your 1st choice selections and also maintain a back-up in case you have a few players slip away to other clubs / schools.

Completing the process, the registration system gets you paid and allows the parents to pay with the SocrPro exclusive “Bucket Billing” system that maximizes the number of players that can afford to pay for your club with flexible payment options.

The registration process also automates the legal forms and medical waivers and ties them to the original registration to make this part fool proof and eliminates the need for filing, storing and tracking paper copies.

So, it looks like we’re off to a good start with the time saving mission and in my next article, I’ll take you into the next time saving steps that you’ll need as you move through the season with practices and games.

Should Youth Soccer Players Dribble More …or Less?

Should Youth Soccer Players Dribble More …or Less?

Dribble more and the kids have a better touch on the ball and more accurate passes when they do release the ball.

Dribble less and the speed of play increases with more movement on the pitch.

It’s an age old debate amongst soccer coaches, players and even parents. One group shouting “pass it” while the other is yelling “control the ball”.

Certainly this is all conditional and in some cases you want your team to pass as quickly as possible and in other cases you want them to slow things down, to control the ball and dribble more and pass less.

I’ll tell you what I’ve learned from hundreds of hours of SocrPro.com video analysis and 1st hand experience in our SocrLabs technical development center.

“Youth soccer players pass too much”

In the majority of cases, youth soccer players are passing too often and too early and soccer coaches should encourage their players to dribble more and pass less.

Let me explain why I take this position and then see if you agree or disagree.

A. 1-Touch Passes are Inaccurate – Passing quality and accuracy spikes up dramatically when players take a touch, a dribble or 2, and then pass the ball versus 1-touch passes. Settling the ball with a touch removes 3 of the 4 variables every player needs to account for when making a pass.

B. Listen to Pep G – Ball movement needs to move the defense. Dribbling and passing are both necessary to force the defense to move and when players pass too early, the defense is allowed to sit back and look for the pass interception. I want players to draw the defensive pressure to them and then pass past this pressure. I want defenders to commit and then need to recommit and I want to maximize the distance they need to move in a game to wear them down as much as possible.

C. Players Will Self Regulate – I’ve never met a player that likes losing the ball while dribbling. When players dribble too much, they will lose the ball to the defense and they will get tired of having the ball stolen and will start to pass more often.

D. Video Fixes the “Non-Regulators” – Some players learn when to pass “slower” than others (I call these “ball dancers”) but you can easily show them in video game review that they are holding the ball too long. It’s a lot easier to show a player when they lost the ball while dribbling than it is to show them that they lost the ball because they passed too early.

E. Mindless “Hot Potato” – Passing for the sake of passing with no real purpose or intent. The last time I read the soccer rule book, there are no bonus points for having the most passes in a game yet there seems to be a pervasive mentality that a team that makes the most “quick passes” is the best team. I’m not a fan of this idea.

Those are the main reasons I think youth soccer players should dribble more and pass less… do you share my opinion and have other ideas?

21 things only SocrPro can do Item # 3 – Video Jump Function

Did you know that SocrPro is the only system that allowsyou to hit a jump button and go all the way through the video to see all your coaches tipped your shots?

You crosses anything that you want to see in the video, you just hit that jump button using our filters and jump right to it. We’re the only one that has this system. The other systems, that are made for American football, like huddle, make you create playlists.

Well those playlists are very time consuming to create and then you got to organize them and jumbled through them and all this other rigmarole. It is so much easier with SocrPro. We can take one video, put the tags in it and the coaches tips init.

If you want to put highlights in there you can do that as well, but then when you go to play it back, all you have to do is check the box, hit the jump button and bam it’s done.

It is so much more convenient and really speak through the way that soccer is played. Football is a set play type of sport so we don’t want to use aset play type of play list, it works great for football but it doesn’t work for soccer.

So this is just one more way we save you time, we save you money, and help you win more games.

You have a great day on the pitch
